SaBi Tea Arts now offers a monthly calligraphy class followed by matcha in the tea room. Certified calligraphy instructor Kazuko Ikegawa will provide tips and critiques during the on-site sessions as well as providing sample texts on seasonal subjects for self-study between sessions. Students are free to choose their preferred style and level of study, using the provided texts or bringing examples of their own selection for personalized feedback from the instructor. No prior experience is necessary -- all levels are welcome! After this focused calligraphy practice, participants will be served matcha and a seasonal sweet in the tea room. Upcoming Sessions Monday, November 7, 2–4pm Monday, December 12, 2–4 pm We hope you can join us for this meditative break from the everyday. Fee: $25 per session (incl. GST). Advance registration is required. Friday October 21, 4pm-8pm
Saturday October 22, 10am-6pm Two days only! Join us for the opening reception of a special two-day show and sale of clothing designs by Fumie Von Dehn using vintage kimono silks. Fumie's designs highlight the craftsmanship of the original kimono garments from which they are carefully selected and are inspired by respect for the material and a keen eye for quality. Many of the base fabrics are handcrafted in traditional weaving and dyeing techniques that are quickly disappearing. These one-of-a-kind designs, including evening wear, casual wear, scarves, and accessories all made from vintage kimono fabric, will be on sale at SaBi Tea Arts on Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22. SaBi Tea Arts invites you to an Autumn Open House
We were pleased to be a part of the festivities at the Nikkei Matsuri at Nikkei Centre in Burnaby over the Labour Day weekend. Thanks to all our volunteers, to the organizers, and to the Vancouver Shinpo for including us in their coverage!
